About the Edition

Some literature has correlated declines in physical activity participation to increases in body dissatisfaction. Gendered body awareness, body dissatisfaction, and physical activity in Indo-Canadian adolescent girls remain absent in the literature. Employing feminist postcolonial and relational theories, this qualitative study explored social factors influencing the gendered body awareness and physical activity experiences and participation of eight, middle-class, able-bodied, Hindu, Indo-Canadian adolescent girls. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews. What remained unique in this group of girls was their lack of desire to be identified as "Indian girls" while faced with the inescapability of the gendered and racialized signifiers on their bodies. As a result, the participants tried to actively and creatively devise ways to fit, resist, cope, and respond to expectations from both Hindu Indian and Canadian social and cultural influences while managing their position in their relationships with family, friends, and peers at school and in the community.

American Heart Association Fitting in Fitness: Hundreds of Simple Ways to Put More Physical Activity into Your Life (American Heart Association) I enjoyed this book because you do not have to read it front to back. You can skip around and get just the information that applies to you.

Information boxes are used for quick tip ideas.5/5(3). Summer Fit Activities workbooks are an engaging and effective, fully illustrated series of activity books designed to give kids fit brains and fit bodies. Research shows that children can forget months or up to 60% of their academic skills during the summer, while other studies have shown that daily fitness and play improve a child's learning abilities and memory/5(12).

This book answers all the questions your child might have about fitness, such as why does it need to be active and what happens when it exercises. Young readers will learn about different types of exercising that can keep them fit, from dance to soccer.

The simplest way to make an activity book is with a three ring binder or folders with built-in brads. You can print out or design pages, punch holes in the side, and put them in. Fold computer paper in half to create an easy binding system. This will also make the book smaller and more easy for your child to handle%().
